Dedicated musicians are warmly invited to become part of the orchestra. We expect a very high level of instrumental proficiency and several years of orchestra experience in wind or symphony orchestras at an advanced level. We come together for two project phases per year. Rehearsal work begins at the start of the respective summer or winter semester. Rehearsals take place weekly on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 to 10:00 pm, typically supplemented by a rehearsal weekend and two additional rehearsal days. The orchestra is assembled for each project phase based on feedback from active members and new applications, with a certain continuity in the ensemble being sought.
To get to know you and gain an impression of where we can best place you in the orchestra, we invite new musicians to an audition. For this, one or more freely chosen pieces or passages from pieces (totalling approximately five minutes) should be prepared, demonstrating both technical finger skills as well as musical expression and tone. Two to three weeks beforehand, we will send out a piece from the upcoming working phase, from which a short passage will be selected to be played at the audition. If you have any questions or uncertainties, we and the respective section leaders are happy to help.
